MISS DRE makes her debut appearance on the Insomniac Records imprint with her club-shaking tech house single “Holla,” arriving ahead of her performance at EDC Las Vegas this month.
With the culturally diverse music community in the Bay Area as her backdrop, MISS DRE has been channeling her lifelong affinity for songwriting into a house music project that finds her wrapping fresh and supremely filthy grooves around her own infectious vocal work. She’s ready to showcase her unique skill set, both on the mic and in the studio, via her first outing with Insomniac Records. Filled with wall-to-wall party-starting action, “Holla” is a tech house heater penned about being an inimitable force in the party scene. Every bar she spits shows up and shows out, demonstrating an infectious confidence that only becomes more charismatic in-tandem with the track’s buoyant basslines, whirring layers, sustained string pads, energizing ad libs, and galloping synths, which propel the momentum ever-forward.
In regard to how her new single came together, MISS DRE says: “I wanted to make something really fun, catchy, and a reason for my ladies to scream ‘holla,’ and the boys, too, if they are feeling spicy with it. Honestly, I just started writing down lyrics and before I knew it, I was in the studio rapping. I just felt like it fit well with the driving beat and carried it in a way! The creative process on this one was so much fun and was a reminder for me to take risks when creating art! You’ll never know what kind of magic you’re keeping away from the world if you hold back.”
“Holla” is one of the exclusive offerings pulled from the official ‘EDC Las Vegas 2023’ compilation, issued by Insomniac Music Group ahead of the world-renowned festival taking place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in May. For all intents and purposes, the track is a true catalyst for a wild night out and it will live up to that standard when MISS DRE unloads it onto the Insomniac Records-hosted stage stereoBLOOM next weekend.
