MNEK – I WROTE A SONG ABOUT YOU

MNEK is an artist who is madly, deeply, truly in love with music. Boasting a profound knowledge of dance, pop, R& B and Hip Hop from the 80’s to date, this South Londoner could have made a play for the charts years ago but instead he studied the art of songwriting and producing taking his time to figure out the type of solo artist he wanted to be.

Now at the age of 19 he releases his first official single, the infectious ‘Wrote a Song About You’, a ridiculously catchy club-smash in waiting in which MNEK muses on a past love. Remixes come from the buzz worthy Kaytranada, Tieks and Shift K3y and the single’s release follows intro track ‘Every Little Word’, a Hype Machine and Spotify Chart top 10.

Whether inhabiting the worlds of house, dance, R&B or soul MNEK’s prodigious talent and popularity is growing exponentially. Having produced hits since he was 14 and recognised by his peers as an accomplished writer and producer, this Catford teenager’s visual and creative approach is undeniably unique. As a singer and songwriter, he’s scored a No.4 smash with Gorgon City’s hugely acclaimed ‘Ready For Your Love’. As a songwriter, he boasts a Grammy nomination and a No.1 single for Duke Dumont’s ‘Need U (100%)’. As a producer, writer and remixer, his credits include Rudimental, Sub Focus, Tinie Tempah and Bastille as well as working with Diplo, Clean Bandit and Sinead Hartnett for their future projects. Now MNEK’s blend of sultry, soulful vocals and bold soundscapes inspired by the best of 80’s and 90’s classics is set to make him a much-deserved solo star.

Having recently performed storming sets at Great Escape, Parklife, Radio 1’s Big Weekend with Gorgon City, and Glastonbury, MNEK is set to play many of this summer’s festivals.
