Mochakk puts new spin on Groove Armada classic ‘Superstylin’

Brazilian DJ, producer Mochakk returns with a new spin on Groove Armada’s ‘00s classic ‘Superstylin’’, out 10th March on Sony BMG.

Rebooting the original with his signature rave-ready sound, Mochakk strips ‘Superstylin’’ down to its bare essentials before unleashing the iconic drop with a refashioned dubby bassline. In a fitting tribute to Groove Armada, the Brazilian rising star adds a minimalist midsection soaked in early ‘00s nostalgia that lets the timeless vocal shine once again.

The remix forms part of Groove Armada’s 25th anniversary celebrations marking a quarter century since their debut single, and follows on from recent remixes of the legendary duo’s work from Dance System, Logic1000 and Ewan McVicar.

Born Pedro Maia, Mochakk is a 23-year-old sensation whose thrilling persona behind the decks matches his prolific production. Growing up in the midst of skating and hip-hop culture, he found his musical start as a beatmaker before eventually pivoting to electronic music. After discovering house music in particular, he became a dedicated student of the genre and used that to his advantage as he progressively made waves in his home country of Brazil, both as a meticulous producer and mesmerising performer.

During a momentous 2022, Mochakk’s presence went global as he embarked upon an expansive North American tour with multiple sold out dates, dominated a laundry list of festivals internationally, did B2B sets with the likes of Vintage Culture, and a summer slot at the church for Circoloco. Standout releases have included his remix of Louie Vega’s ‘Cosmic Witch’ on Nervous Records, a smash remix for The Martinez Brothers, and ‘Sombrero Sam’, which reached No.1 on the Beatport Deep House chart and received a ton of big-name support, with Pete Tong recently naming it his Essential New Tune, and Marco Carola and Michael Bibi playing it during a celebrated B2B.

Looking ahead to a busy start to the summer for the Brazilian mainstay, he is to perform a sold out Cercle show in Seville, which is the largest capacity Cercle show to date. He is also to perform at Coachella both weekends, a Circoloco Residency and an anticipated B2B set with Back Coffee at Hi Ibiza opening party in April.

With his latest unmissable remix, Mochakk remodels a classic for the dancefloor in 2023.
