After opening its doors in April of this year, Notting Hill based cultural hub and experiential space, MODE has galvanised the Portobello based venue’s reputation as a streamlined, 360 degree approach to modern culture and nightlife. Fusing food, culture and of course, music, MODE has welcomed a selection of the industries finest acts, musicians and DJs to grace its unique stage, set to the backdrop of an authentic, full size church organ.
The MODE experience offers a consistent, forward thinking concept for all, with music of all shapes and sounds at its very core. Thursday night sees MODE Live! – a fresh take on eclectic, live music and dining – and the already infamous Friday night, MODE Undisclosed sessions, with its secret guest DJs keeping the plates hot throughout the night, and have included Maceo Plex, Rudimental, Seth Troxler, Guy Gerber and Groove Armada.
MODE Live! (Thursdays)
Spearheaded by London promoter and indie-scene legend Tom Frog, MODE Live! brings a seamless blend of jazz, folk, afro-beat, reggae, rap and almost everything in between for a night of fine dining. Set to the perfect soundtrack of MODE’s eclectic and newly discovered music from all corners of the world, performing spontaneously and at times, improvised. Recent guests who have joined this celebration of music range from the low-down funk of Fat White Family; to the proto-afrohouse of Afro Spot; grime emcees Ghetts and Flowdan taking control of the crowd; Balkan gypsy punk from Barbarella’s Bang Bang and Ninja Tune’s latest starlet, Kate Tempest, with her blend of beats, bars and poetic lyrical magic in an intimate setting, appreciated by music lovers from all walks of life.
MODE Undisclosed (Fridays)
After launching across two weekends with surprise sets from Rudimental and a clandestine, one-off DJ set from Groove Armada, MODE Undisclosed has become somewhat of a signature concept for the venue. Featuring huge name acts such as Guy Gerber, Subb-An, Maceo Plex, global sensation Bakermat and many more, ‘Undisclosed Fridays’ are fast becoming a symbol of trust and excitement among London clubbers, all in the company of the biggest hand-picked DJ talent in the world.
A Great Space..
Late night revellers are able to get down amongst MODE’s bespoke art installations – including a giant spitfire and a one of a kind flame-throwing church organ, designed by The Sixteenth Wagon Arts group – smoke and confetti cannons.
All artists are also treated to the prospect of playing, performing and DJing using MODE’s state of the art Tri Motion sound system, created by VOID Audio – the first in any club in the world – built to give higher fidelity and broader range of sound – providing optimum experience for both artist and fan.
