Moovin’ Festival announces line up…

Moovin Festival is back once again in 2017 and promises to be another boutique bass, funk, soul, reggae, house , jazz, and d&b gathering for real music lovers. With big hitters like Roy Ayres, Black Grape Gilles Peterson and Roni Size all set to play, this truly promises to be the best edition yet.

Taking place at the eco-friendly Whitebotham farm in the stunning countryside in Compstall, you find it through a magical canopy of trees, past a lake with waterfowl greeting you, and a breathtaking gorge welcoming you at the entrance. Whilst the line ups are big the capacity for it all is limited at 3500 so as the promoters feel that by keeping it intimate is what makes the festival so special it keeps it friendly and personal and stages include the Barn Stage, a large open sided cow shed with bales of hay to relax and chill on, as well as sound systems throughout the site that are guaranteed to knock your festival wellies off.

Independent throughout and with a counter cultural feel and devotion to booking the freshest acts, Moovin Festival is a laid back way to catch an ecelectic mix of  favourite acts as well as exciting new artists. It’s about making new mates and discovering new sounds; it’s a place to enjoy ethically sourced foods and cocktails, to try some holistic healing treatments and enjoy circus performers, festival fun games and surprises and really forget the outside world for a magical weekend.

Musically many bases are covered, with the godfather of Neo Soul Mr Roy Ayres making a rare UK festival apperance. This virtuoso musician and producer has been behind many seminal albums on Ubiquity Records, and he will be joined by Shaun Rider’s Black Grape who have a new indie dance album coming in summer. Bristolian d&b legend Roni Size will be performing a brand new live hardware show to celebrate 20 years of his game changing album New Forms (and this will be one of the first chances to see the show in the UK) while Worldwide FM founder, Talkin Loud & Brownswood boss and world music champion Giles Peterson also brings his eclectic bag of records. Acid house pioneers 808 State will be performing live also bring their hedonistic cuts to the table to bring back the early 90’s rave memories alongside Hacienda Djs such as Mike Pickering, Graeme Park & Greg Wilson.

Another master selector in Mr Scruff will also play with the likes of a special set from live specialists Jazzanova adding some jazzy house vibes to proceedings. Dub legend Mad Professor, disco funksters Crazy P (live) and the playful Riot Jazz crew also add their sounds to the festival, with Gentleman Dub Club plus not one but two DMC champions in DJ Woody and DJ Brace also on site to showcase their mad turntable skills as they cut up and paste beats together before your very eyes. Last but not least, local hip hop heroes The Mouse Outfit also make an return appearance.

As well as these main headliners—, you can except a tasteful and diverse array of quirky bands, local talents, drumming outfits, deep digging DJs from across the musical spectrum as well as some as yet secret surprises that will finish the whole festival off in style.
