T in the Park festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager are delighted to announce that superstar DJ Diplo and hotly tipped talent, Foy Vance, Basement, Dua Lipa, Gerry Cinnamon, Frances, JP Cooper and The Amorettes and will be joining the line-up for T in the Park 2016, whilst Silicone Soul, Pan-Pot, Scuba, Jasper James and Harvey McKay complete the line-up of the world renowned Slam Tent, with James and McKay starting the party early as the Slam Tent opens on Thursday 7th July. Acts announced today join headliners The Stone Roses, Calvin Harris, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Disclosure, Courteeners, The 1975, Chase & Status, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Jess Glynne and many, many more at this year’s T in the Park at Strathallan Castle over 8th – 10th July 2016.
Thomas Wesley Pentz, better known as Diplo, is one of the most dynamic forces in music today, as a renowned musician/DJ/producer both solo and with Major Lazer, who just completed a storming set at Coachella this year. He’s proven himself to be a ubiquitous cultural figure, consistently bridging high and low, mainstream and underground, with remarkable tact and reverence. After multiple Grammy nominations, including Producer of the Year, and being crowned the no.1 most streamed artist on Soundcloud for 2013, Beyoncé’s “Run the World” sampled Major Lazer’s “Pon De Floor” and sold over a million copies, cementing Diplo’s place in the pop world. This summer will see Diplo bring the party to T in the Park when he headlines the King Tut’s Tent as well as with Major Lazer on the Radio 1 Stage.
Foy Vance is a critically acclaimed singer and songwriter hailing from Bangor, Northern Ireland and deeply rooted in the rich musical history and aesthetic of the Southern United States. In late 2015 Foy became only the second artist signing to Gingerbread Man Records, a division of Atlantic Records started by Ed Sheeran. Recording for his Gingerbread Man debut The Wild Swan took place at the legendary Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tenn. With Grammy-winning producer Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Norah Jones, James Bay, Kings of Leon, Of Monsters and Men). Recording legend Elton John is the album’s Executive Producer, and Foy will support Elton on the UK & European legs of his Wonderful Crazy tour this summer. The While Swan will be released May 13th.
English rock band, Basement reunited in 2014 following a 2 year hiatus, news that delighted their intensely devoted following. The release of their third studio album, Promise Everything, earlier this year was followed by tours across the UK, Europe and the USA before the band head across the world for their Australian tour later this month. They’ll bring their melodic tones to Strathallan Castle on Saturday 9th July.
With her smoky voice and sultry looks, Dua Lipa is a pop star in waiting. Her first original songs were uploaded to Soundcloud in 2012, drawing the attention of Lana Del Rey’s managers, who signed her up and set her to work with Emile Haynie (Eminem, Bruno Mars and, naturally, Lana Del Rey). The result is an off-kilter, it-girl sound, powered by Lipa’s deep, resonant voice that’s sure to wow the crowds. Her hotly anticipated debut album is due for release later this year on Warner Records.
Gerry Cinnamon is a Scottish singer songwriter with a difference. His infamous live shows are a mixture of beat-up acoustic guitars, soulful harmonica and heartfelt vocals. Anthemic sing along tracks, laced with social commentary seem to capture the imagination of the crowd. With every track being different, it keeps the listener on their toes. Using loop pedal harmonies and pounding kick drums, Gerry makes a habit of whipping the audience into a frenzy which sees them leaving on a high and wanting more. His appearance on the T Break Stage at last year’s festival was a grand success, with the Glasgow musician performing to a packed tent and rousing the audience in deafening singalongs. He’ll return to play T in the Park this summer.
22 year old Frances writes and produces her own music influenced by artists ranging from Aqualung, Sia and Coldplay, to Alanis Morissette and Carole King. Her unique, ethereal tones, supported by her emotive piano playing and honest lyrics make her one to watch. She released her debut EP “Grow” on Communion Records in 2015 and, less than a year later, the young artist has solidified her status as one of 2016’s fastest rising stars, sweeping up nominations for both the Brits Critics’ Choice and BBC Sound of 2016 poll as well as selling out a headline show at London's Union Chapel.
With hauntingly beautiful vocals, JP Cooper transports you into his world of romanticism and heart ache. The singer-songwriter has been honing his live skills relentlessly over the last couple of years, touring the country whilst building a huge and loyal fan base with the release of 3 self-recorded EPs. His debut Island release “Keep the Quiet Out” EP shot into the top 5 on the iTunes singer-songwriter chart, gaining him some serious love from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. With support shown from the likes of Clash, Hunger Magazine, Hypetrak, Shortlist, Soul Culture, Shortlist and SBTV, he’ll play T in the Park this July for the first time.
The Amorettes exploded onto the international music scene in early 2015, with the release of their acclaimed album “Game On” and debut UK tour. With rave reviews coming in from all over the UK and Europe for the Chris Tsangarides (Black Sabbath, Depeche Mode, Tom Jones and Thin Lizzy) produced album, The Amorettes set about building their fan base with an old fashioned “take it to the people” attitude. Fresh from touring the UK and Europe relentlessly with the likes of ASH, Thunder, Black Stone Cherry, Danko Jones and GUN, and with appearances at festivals in the UK, Netherlands, France and Belgium, The Amorettes show no signs of slowing down as they continue to deliver more of their gritty, punk-tinged rock ‘n’ roll.
Since first appearing on Soma Records in 1998, DJ-production duo Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie, aka Silicone Soul, have occupied a special place in the overcrowded field of electronic dance music, mainly through the depth and quality of their recordings plus their innate understanding of music‘s grand heritage and its constant development. They have released four critically acclaimed albums, gained residencies at some of Europe’s most celebrated clubs, scooped numerous DJ Mag nominations, played countless festivals, stormed the UK charts and launched their own Darkroom Dubs imprint which has been releasing for over 12 years.
In the last decade, Pan-Pot – comprised of Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix – have developed a dominate presence in the upper echelon of electronic dance music, with an ascension paralleling very few who have come before or since. The defining moment of their career came in 2007 with the release of their debut artist album, Pan-O-Rama. Since then the duo have toured relentlessly, perfectly their electric vibe and ensuring they know exactly what to do when they hit T in the Park on Sunday 10th July.
Since 2003, Paul Rose – better known to the world as techno maverick Scuba – and his Hotflush imprint have shaped the direction of the electronic scene’s bass-heavy landscape more than most. As a DJ and producer, meanwhile, Rose’s personal achievements have seen him ascend to rank among the UK’s electronic luminaries. He has released three artist albums, spun a mix for the esteemed DJ Kicks series, run a night at Berghain, and won a DJ Mag Best Live Act award in 2013. He’ll play the renowned Slam Tent on Sunday 10th July.
Described by Mixmag as “probably the techno pages most regular contributor”, Harvey McKay has created a distinctive style with a name that is synonymous with driving, soulful techno. As a DJ, Harvey has an exceptional skill to read the crowd and has played at some of the biggest clubs around the world – Space Ibiza, Awakenings, Ultra Music Festival, Fabric, Space Miami and many more, and recently the first night of Loveland Weekender. Fans can catch Harvey’s blistering set when the Slam Tent opens on Thursday 7th July at T in the Park to truly start the party early.
Emerging from his Glaswegian roots as a DJ championed by some of the UK’s most vital selectors, Jasper James has quickly established himself as more than just an artist-to-watch. Buoyed by a rich musical education that stretches way beyond his years, he’s wasted little time in exploring his own vision for UK dance music through relentless DJ sets and releases. More recently to be found moulding his sound week-on-week via his newly appointed residency at London club Phonox, his all-night marathon sets have garnered huge attention from key media outlets like Resident Advisor, as well as Mixmag and DJ Mag – the latter of whom named Jasper ‘Breakthrough DJ Of The Year’ at their annual Best Of British awards in December 2015. Jasper will join Harvey McKay on the Slam Tent line-up on Thursday 7th July.
