Viral streaming sensation and live artist Ash collaborates with Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Jinadu on the poignant upbeat song ‘Little Changes’, out now. The single prefigures Ash’s imminent autobiographical debut multi-tracker ‘About Life’, and is the only EP track with vocals.
With over 650 million streams of his singles, French Canadian-Egyptian live artist/producer Ash plays piano, guitar, sax, drums/pads and electronic keyboards/wind instrument. His haunting compositions, often filmed live in iconic locations (his Cercle performance in the White Desert, the Pyramids of Giza, Montreal at sunrise, Paris’ rooftops),express his mixed middle eastern and western heritage. Jinadu recently co-wrote and performed ‘Lost’, the lead track on Black Coffee’s Grammy-nominated debut album and has over 180 collaborations to his name with electronic music luminaries including Jamie Jones, Dixon, Cristoph, Hot Since 82, Jody Wisternoff, Innervisions…
‘Little Changes’ is a true ‘song’ with a message of hope blossoming and life returning, with Ash’s soft bongo beat, plangent guitar chords and synth arpeggios and Jinadu’s heartfelt lyrics and lush, layered vocal harmonies:
‘I wrote the lyrics during the UK lockdown, influenced by people noticing and appreciating the ‘little things’ oftensmothered by the noise and daily grind of modern urban life – like bird song, and nature in general, with no planes overhead and a lot less traffic. It felt like another world but for me there was always hope. ‘Joy comes in the morning’ (Psalm 30) says it for me.’
About Life EP: Ash in his debut EP celebrates the people, places and events which made him. ‘Each track represents a moment in my life, happy memories from my hometown, moving from Egypt to Canada for my studies, friendships, feeling lost and losses… everything about living and making music in Cairo, Montreal and also Paris.’
