Swedish-born, LA-based composer and producer Olovson has returned with a breathtaking sophomore project: his UNTANGLE album, released on November 19th, 2025 via his own imprint, 1136 Diamond. Following the success of his debut album Storytelling in 2022, Olovson now opens a more personal chapter with UNTANGLE — with his own voice at the center for the first time. Olovson is known for his emotive piano compositions and Grammy-winning productions for artists like Frank Ocean, Dua Lipa, and Mark Ronson. The title track off UNTANGLE album was added to the Spotify editorial playlist New Music Friday Sweden, while its video premiered on acclaimed publication KALTBLUT Magazine. The first single released off the album, ‘THINGS I COULD’VE LEFT BEHIND’, has already received support from the esteemed NPR Music, KCRW and KEXP 90.3 FM – a promising glimpse of what is to follow with the rest of the album.
Olovson grew up in a musical family, beginning his journey on piano at the age of seven and recording original compositions by his early teens. Now, Olovson’s debut album boasts over 3 million streams across platforms and praise from Rolling Stone India, Wonderland Magazine, CLASH, PopMatters, BBC Radio 6, NTS, and more. His track ‘Books Are Flying’ was featured in the SHOWTIME series The Man Who Fell to Earth, while the visual for ‘Gyroscope’ was nominated at multiple BAFTA-qualifying film festivals including Encounters, London Short Film Festival, and LIFA.
With the UNTANGLE album, Olovson expands his sonic palette — introducing a bold vocal presence while preserving the cinematic sensitivity that defines his sound. The songs glide effortlessly between genre, from tactile ambient electronica, to lo-fi R&B, to jazz-laced impressionist piano compositions and beyond, moving through a kaleidoscope of light, shadow and transformation in a sonic odyssey with Olovson’s quiet yet potent voice at the forefront. The focus track ‘RIVER’ encapsulates the spirit of the album perfectly – nebulous yet precise, it shuffles through hazy, wistful R&B-tinged sounds with intricate experimental production, sure to ensnare fans of James Blake, Sampha, and Blood Orange. The track’s accompanying video, directed, edited, and shot on an iPhone by Olovson himself, is a beautiful stop motion vignette of a puppet figure moving quietly through a forest, gathering twigs to build a raft and eventually floating away along a river – a soft, simple, yet earnest portrayal of the song’s themes of letting go.
