Multiple Mono – When It Rains It Pours (Butane Remix)

Early November will see Butane return to his Alphahouse imprint, offering up a reshape of Multiple Mono’s ‘When It Rains It Pours’.

Andrew Rasse aka Butane has carved out quite the career over the years, releasing material via the likes of Dumb Unit, Crosstown Rebels and SCI+TEC, as well as heading up the much loved Little Helpers label alongside Someone Else, and of course leading the way with his own Alphahouse imprint, where he presents his most memorable work.

This time he offers up a single-track package, a massive rework from the label-founder himself of the NYC based live act Rob Paterson and Colin Kasprowicz aka Multiple Mono, known most notably for their material on Little Helpers and Minus.

Butane’s take on ‘When It Rains It Pours’ [originally released on Jyre Records] sees the American producer remould the original’s stripped-back, sparse, slow vibe into a heavy, penetrating groove. He brings rumbling tom tom rolls and cavernously reverberated rhythms to the forefront, while an underlying tension, achieved through punishing sub bass and subtle percussive additions, slowly unfolds over the compositions six and a half minutes. The creation, a cavernous, heady, nearly tribal techno workout, is a typically classy and understated piece of work, as you’d expect from such a prolific producer working with exceptional source material.

Butane’s remix of ‘When It Rains It Pours’ by Multiple Mono is out November 3rd 2014.
