Music For Dreams @ Café Mambo

Kenneth Bager is responsible for bringing ‘chillout’ back to Ibiza at Cafe Mambo on Sundays with his Music For Dreams party. Each week an eclectic mix of special guest DJs are channeling the sounds of Balearic, ambient and chilled beats until the sun sets on the White Isle.

The Music For Dreams party has already hosted a variety of star guests including Charles Webster, Kolsch, Simon Dunmore, Phil South (Golf Channel), Ibiza legends, Pippi and Leo Mas, as well as a live set from Laidback (responsible for the Balearic classic ‘White Horse’ and who were playing on the island for the first time).

This Sunday sees Rusty Egan, Kelvin Andrews, Jon Sa Trinxa, Lucci Capri, and Karlos Sense join forces with chill maestro Kenneth Bager.  Rusty Egan, who started DJing in 1978 at Billy’s in London (home of the infamous Blitz club and the new romantic era), was possibly the world’s first electronic DJ. He was famed for popularising Kraftwerk, Human League, Japan and others and was the first to pioneer mixing electronic music in clubs, even programming an electronic ambient music night.  Later he teamed up with club host Steve Strange to form Visage and scored a No.1 hit with ‘Fade To Grey’, an electronic track that remains incredibly influential.  Rusty went on to open Camden Palace (now Koko), which became London’s answer to Studio 54. He is joined by one of the original UK house DJs, Kelvin Andrews, formerly of Candy Flip, Sure Is Pure and Sound 5 and who has been successfully recording as Soul Mekanik for the last 10 years. Other guests include Balearic pioneer and Ibiza legend, Jon Sa Trinxa, Lucci Capri from Messalina Records and Karlos Sense from Ibiza Sonica Radio and Space,

Kenneth Bager will play into the sunset showcasing material from his personally compiled Café Mambo – The Sunset Sessions album recently released on his Music For Dreams label.

Music For Dreams is the brainchild of Kenneth Bager (aka Dr Baker), promoter of Denmark’s renowned Coma Club and Apple Flower Festival, who has been exporting his stylish playlist from Copenhagen to Ibiza this summer. Alongside special guest DJs, the Music For Dreams parties at Cafe Mambo will feature topflight international chefs inside in the restaurant.

For 19 years, Café Mambo has been hailed as the place to be on the sunset strip in Sant Antoni, Ibiza. With an unrivalled reputation built via great guest DJs and the world famous sunset, the outdoor area hosts around 6000 clubbers every day and 12,000 passers-by. Some of the star names who regularly grace the decks at this legendary venue include Pete Tong, Swedish House Mafia, Carl Cox, Solomun, Bob Sinclar, Tiesto and many more.

Music For Dreams is at Cafe Mambo every Sunday until 1st September 2013.
