DJ Rae & Felix Baumgartner - Crazy
07 / December / 2017
DJ Rae and Felix Baumgartner collaborate on the powerful ‘Crazy’ – a fresh and exciting interpretation of a classic house anthem, released on DJ Rae’s RATED label on 1 December.
‘Crazy’ marks the third release on DJ Rae’s new RATED label, following acclaimed releases ‘My Soul’ and ‘Surrender’. ‘Crazy’ showcases DJ Rae’s many talents as a Producer, Singer and Songwriter, who is able to take celebrated dance-floor filler ‘It’s Love (Trippin)’ and turn it into something completely original, as the deep and hypnotic cut builds sublimely alongside Rae’s incredible vocal.
On ‘Crazy’, DJ Rae says: " I was inspired by this track from back in the day, a stand out record. I got to work on it and when It came to the vocal it felt good for my voice to go somewhere different. I’m a passionate songwriter, but there’s also something great about being able to express yourself through someone else's words, in a way you wouldn't have done otherwise.”
‘Crazy’ sees DJ Rae join forces with respected producer Felix Baumgartner. On the collaboration DJ Rae says: “I hooked up with Felix who loved where I was going with the track and the whole production came together really naturally, working each element to complement each other. ‘Crazy’ has got a depth and feeling you don’t hear so often these days, I’m really happy with this collaboration and proud to present the next RATED release.”
Having produced and appeared on an array of hugely successful releases for many of the world’s biggest labels, RATED marks an exciting chapter in DJ Rae’s career which is already marked with plenty of incredible highlights. DJ’s first two RATED releases, ‘My Soul’ and ‘Surrender’ were supported by a wide variety of top selectors including Mark Knight, Marco Carola, MistaJam, Crookers, Horse Meat Disco, and Lenny Fontana.
Rae shares a great history with Defected Records since her first, self-penned release with the label, ‘Can’t Stop’ with Kings of Tomorrow became a house anthem. Rae's multi-faceted talent lead to her fast becoming an artist in demand, headlining tours as both a DJ and live act worldwide, with residencies at Ushuaïa and Pacha Ibiza, paving the way with confident productions such as ‘Hide U’ with Sandy Rivera, ‘Another Day’, and the massive Top 20 release ‘Take Me Away’ with DJ S.K.T. Recent releases include ‘Yesterday’ on Armada, ‘Groove On’ on Spinnin’, ‘That Feeling’ on Get Twisted, ‘Harmony’ on Love & Other, ‘Sweat’ on Nothing Else Matters/Sony, ‘Reachin’ on In The Loop and 'Good Times EP' On Toolroom.
Rae is also a sought-after songwriter within the dance and pop industry, collaborating and penning songs for major artists across the genres. Using her full name Rae Hall, recent features include ‘Lose Myself’ from up and coming producer Kharfi, supported by DJ Snake and The Chainsmokers; ‘You & Me’ with Ryan Blyth & Scrufizzer, with support on Radio 1Xtra, Capital and Kiss; and ‘Sundown/Loving Me’ with KC Lights on Danny Howard's label Nothing Else Matters, all clocking up big plays on Spotify and BBC Radio 1.
To add to a CV of ever-growing accomplishments, Rae is currently performing as guest vocalist for the hugely successful Hacienda Classical tour, which has already seen Rae unleash her incredible vocals on such iconic stages as The Royal Albert Hall and on The Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival.
In total, these outings continue to enhance Rae's abilities as producer, performer, author and remixer. In turn, they cement her status as a female house artist to be reckoned with.
