Seattle-based solo artist Dan Powers, the mind behind darkwave project Mutual Shock, has officially released his debut album Nervous Systems.
Following his well-received 2024 EP Stimulus Progression, Powers dives deeper into shadowy sonic territory with a ten-track meditation on alienation, societal pressure, and the erosion of identity in an increasingly mechanized world. Drawing inspiration from acts like Black Marble, Molchat Doma, and Nine Inch Nails, Nervous Systems fuses analog synth textures with rhythmic minimalism and lyrical unease.
“The album is about navigating the slow erosion of self under late capitalism,” Powers explains. “It’s about doubt, unease, and trying to make sense of a world that often feels dehumanizing and disconnected.”
Early singles “Destroyer,” “Body Together,” and “Bore Me” have already generated buzz, offering listeners a taste of the album’s brooding emotional palette and hypnotic aesthetic.
Nervous Systems is now streaming on all major platforms, and stands as a timely statement for fans of post-punk, synthpop, and the darker corners of electronic music.
