23 years after SL2’s original track was released, UK house music protagonists My Digital Enemy have reworked the breakbeat crossover classic ‘On A Ragga Tip’ for a 21st century update. Following on from last years success as the third top selling House artist on Beatport, the pair have remoulded the time-transcending hit for release on Spinnin’ Deep on 11th May 2015.
Swapping breaks for a solid 4/4 beat, My Digital Enemy have truly transformed ‘On A Ragga Tip’ from a piece of dance music history to a modern House masterpiece. Leaving the iconic vocal line and piano line fully intact, MDE’s new version pays kudos to its predecessor, filling itself with intense builds and future house-informed basslines that rattle through layered percussive structures.
Off the back of releases on Toolroom, and their own labels Zulu & Vudu Records, My Digital Enemy are set to continue their winning streak on Spinnin’ with their return to the label for this special track. After a string of Beatport top ten singles and support from the likes of Pete Tong, Annie Mac, Tiesto and Steve Angello on BBC Radio 1 ‘On A Ragga Tip’ is set to raise the profile of the duo even further into 2015.
