Every second Thursday of the month, Mystic Bounce bridges the gap between hip-hop and other seminal forms of beat-driven electronic music. Each month we bring together a string of our favourite artists at the forefront of their sound to deliver live performances and DJ sets in the depths of XOYO’s basement.
For the launch the event we welcome the critically acclaimed spoken word artist, George The Poet to the stage. One of the most agile and engaging lyricists of our time, he’ll take you on a journey through his mesmerising mind backed by some weighty productions from the likes of Krept & Konan, Naughty Boy, Bodhi and Chase & Status.
As the night roles through we see multi-instrumentalist and singer Tom Misch go all out with a rare DJ set. His jazz infused take on hip-hop has made waves since his debut EP Beat Tape 1 dropped back in 2014. Since then he’s had prolific output via Soulection, JAKARTA and his own label Beyond The Groove.
Bringing in strong support is Glaswegian producer, DJ Milktray. His ‘All Because The Lady Loves’ EP on Jon Phonics’ Astral Black label thrust him into the limelight back in late 2014 as he spliced up recognisable R&B and hip-hop classics from the 90’s and 00’s, recalibrating them into instrumental grime edits which make the club pound.
Join us for the launch on Thursday 8th September and keep your eyes peeled for Octobers line-ups coming soon…
