Juggling behind-the-scenes penmanship for artists such as AlunaGeorge and Kylie Minogue alongside front-and-center domination of the HypeM charts via cuts like “Good Together” and “New Moon,” Tom Aspaul has all the trappings of an artist prepared for the spotlight. That notion has continuously expanded over the years, but it couldn’t be more apparent on “Never Complaining,” the first taste of his forthcoming LEFT EP. Produced by Tim Deal (The Dealer) and co-written by GRADES, the meditation on toxic relationships blends Aspaul’s sweet, ‘90s R&B cadence and harmony-laden, western pop with worldly percussive and string elements to undeniably infectious results – results that are reflected throughout his diverse debut project.
As for the EP in its entirety – the audible result of grappling with life as a 20-something London transplant through dance, pop, and R&B sensibilities – look for production work from rising star MNEK (Beyonce, Zara Larsson) and co-writing from Nao affiliate Dan Traynor (GRADES). LEFT is slated for release on November 4th via BLK&WHT Records.
‘Never Complaining’ is available on BLK&WHT RCRDS on the 30th of September.
