New Music Alert: N-Trance Return with Single and Video

Legendary UK dance act N-Trance are back with their first original single in 22-years. The brand-new single Higher lands alongside an official music video, reigniting the unmistakable sound and spirit of one of Britain’s most influential crossover groups.

From the creators of the iconic 90s anthem Set You Free, Higher is a high-octane fusion of classic N-Trance energy. Produced by original member Kevin O’Toole using the same mixing desk, monitors and microphone that recorded the group’s string of chart hits, Higher captures the same authentic sound that made N-Trance icons of 90s club culture.

Higher also marks a significant milestone as N-Trance’s first independent release, following their earlier years signed to Pete Waterman’s PWL Manchester label 380 Records and All Around The World.

Kevin O’Toole said, “I’ve always wanted my own record label and the freedom that comes with that. The overwhelming response to the new song has been emotional and I’ve missed the adrenaline of releasing new music. Our music has a distinctive sound, and people recognise and hopefully resonate with that. You’ll be seeing a lot more N-Trance songs released from now on.”

The music video for Higher leans playfully into nostalgia, featuring a DeLorean time machine racing down a runway — a deliberate nod to going ‘back to the 90s’, the decade that shaped the band’s identity and global success.

The track has already sent shockwaves with fans across generations celebrating the musical comeback of a group whose influence continues to echo through modern dance music.

The legacy of N-Trance – originally formed in 1990 by Kevin O’Toole and Dale Longworth at college in Manchester – is one of undeniable impact. Set You Free famously took three separate releases before it became the phenomenon it is today. By 1995, the single finally exploded into the mainstream, reaching No. 2 in the UK Official Charts, remaining in the Top 40 for five months, selling over 600,000 copies and becoming the eighth biggest-selling single of the year.

It cemented N-Trance as one of the most influential dance acts of the decade and laid the foundation for a run of hits including the Top 11 smashes Stayin’ Alive — featuring Viveen Wray and ex-KLF rapper Ricardo Da Force — and D.I.S.C.O., which further showcased their ability to fuse club culture with crossover pop success.

N-Trance have been relentlessly touring since the 90s and today maintain a demanding international touring schedule.

Performing worldwide with the current live lineup of Rachel Chambers, Tricia McTeague, MC B, Jay McCurdy and N-Trance DJ Junior K, the group’s 2026 schedule is insanely packed with shows including We Love The 90s Festival, In It Together Festival, Back to the 90s Fest and more.
