Cementing its position as the undeniable epicentre of creativity, culture and worldwide trendsetters, Flow Festival Helsinki has revealed the next wave of artists touching down on Finnish soil this August.
Leading these new additions are two revered names in British music, that have systematically created defining records of their times. For over 35 years, synth-pop pioneers New Order have been at the forefront of innovation and pop culture, with a staggering catalogue of universally acclaimed anthems. Constantly delving into unexplored music territories, their combination of throbbing dance and revered post-punk sensibilities has influenced and inspired not only a swathe of future stars, but a generation as a whole. Fresh from the critically acclaimed Music Complete, their performance at Flow Festival Helsinki is set to stand as a snapshot of a truly legendary band embracing their future.
The hotly anticipated return of The Last Shadow Puppets has been on the lips of music fans around the globe ever since the break-away success of their sole album to date The Age Of The Understatement. With the songwriting prowess of Alex Turner and Miles Kane channeling the spirit of doo-wop and orchestrated symphonies, they stand as an untouched supergroup of modern music. Taking to the stage at Flow Festival Helsinki, expect old favourites alongside fresh cuts from their upcoming second album, Everything You’ve Come To Expect as generational icons reaffirm their undisputed credentials.
Today’s announcement also sees the addition of a variety of names across a spectrum of underground genres including the critically acclaimed house morpher John Talabot (DJ Set), the legendary chameleon of German dance Roman Flügel, revered and respected technician of the decks The Black Madonna and the Elijah Wood featuring Wooden Wisdom teaming up with DJ Fitz for an unstoppable festival concoction of their combined record collections.
After producing one of the most respected and important records of 2015, American composer Holly Herndon will be bringing her spellbinding electronic tales to Helsinki this summer in what’s sure to be an unmissable festival moment. She’ll be joined on the lineup by the vast tectonic sounds of Shackleton who will be bringing his breathtaking Powerplant project to Flow, for a unique instrumental tour-de-force whilst Chicago’s acid-house pioneers Phuture (DJ Pierre + Spanky) will bring the dystopian vibes from a 30-year career of creation and originality.
Flow Festival Helsinki is set within the creative heartbeat of Helsinki, for a weekend embracing arts, individuality and creativity with an already stellar lineup of music including the Australian pop saviour Sia, M83, Chvrches, Jamie XX, Stormzy, Four Tet and many more.
A limited number of three-day early bird tickets are available until the end of February, priced at €165 and available through the festival’s official website.
