Nigerian artist Cuppy drops an exclusive Afrobeats mix ahead of an exciting run of DJ sets
Nigerian producer, DJ, entrepreneur and 1Xtra radio host Cuppy has unveiled an all-new mix called ‘Party in the Jungle’, out now on Apple Music, Soundcloud and Audiomack.
One of the biggest DJ’s in Africa, Cuppy’s carefully curated ‘Party In The Jungle’ mix features anthems from the likes of Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Mr Eazi, Koffee, JAE 5, Giggs and many more. The mix also features exclusive drops from Digga D, Stefflon Don and Diplo, as well as Cuppy remixes of Nonso Amadi’s ‘Foreigner’, and her very own track ‘Gelato’ – as well as an exclusive track produced by Cuppy featuring Vic O.
DJ, producer, philanthropist and now BBC Radio 1Xtra radio host, Cuppy has quickly risen through the ranks to become a supreme lead role as a global pan-African tastemaker. With her loveable personality and undeniable hard work ethic she’s embarked on a number of projects, including her ‘Cuppy Takes Africa Tour’ which was filmed and a documentary series of the same name aired on Fox Life.
In 2020, she launched ‘African Now’, Apple Music’s first ever radio show dedicated to Afrobeats, showcasing Africa’s latest sounds, from Amapiano to highlife, to house and kuduro, every Sunday. In the August of that same year, Cuppy released her debut album ‘Original Copy’, seeing her take the vocal reigns on themes that range from independence to love lost and African pride over a trap-meets-afrobeats sonic bed that she calls: “neo-afrobeats”. The star-studded album, produced by Cuppy in collaboration with Killertunes (Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi) and Red Velvet Music Group signee, Bond, featured the likes of Grammy winner, Wyclef Jean, Julian Marley, as well as Nigerian superstars Rema, Teni and Ghana’s Stonebwoy.
Cuppy kicked off 2022 by revealing herself as the brand-new host of the BBC Radio 1Xtra ‘Sunday Breakfast’ show, every week from 7am-11am, succeeding radio and TV presenter Remi Burgz. Looking ahead, after taking a short hiatus to focus on her masters degree at Oxford University, Cuppy has three European tour dates lined up for the coming months, at London’s Roundhouse for Limitless Live (16th April) alongside Raye and Ms Banks, Portugal’s Trace Made in Africa Festival (24-26 June) and Wireless (8th July) alongside Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion and Burna Boy.
The rest of the year will see Cuppy continue her mission to strengthen her reign as one of Africa’s biggest DJs and a well-rounded music businesswoman, with plans for new music and projects as she enters an exciting new phase of her career.
