Nesta Eclectic Electric - Nightfall

Nesta continues through a busy 2018 with the release of the first of three full length LPs he has planned for the year in the shape of ‘Eclectic Electric – Nightfall’.

Next to this absorbing album, Lebanon based artist Nabih Esta will also release a follow up as well as a remix LP. They all come after years building a fan base thanks to his work both as Nesta and Technophile and the development of his own label, Fantôme de Nuit. This hard to define artist was a part of the renowned club, The Garten, holds a residency at The Grand Factory and always mixes up experimental frequencies and fine engineering skills to craft expressive music that takes in a wide world of influences from house to jazz, disco to synth.

‘Eclectic Electric – Nightfall’ opens with the superb ‘Room With A View’, an atmospheric bit of ambient with gentle piano keys and slowly arcing synths that immediately soothes the soul. Drums pick up on ‘Not Your Usual Thing’ as bright synths and loose percussion bring an exotic feel, while ‘Cleopatra on Acid’ features spoken word samples about LSD and punchy drums that get you on your toes. It’s an original track with dance floor appeal and plenty of character.

The groovy ‘Long Gone Race’ is an effortlessly breezy piece with elastic bass and more exotic synths bringing colour and culture to the arrangement. The mood shifts again with the propulsive house drums of ‘Gammarth’. Finger clicks and snappy snares are offset by lingering chords that bring a woozy atmosphere before the dreamy ‘Aliens World’ carries you away on pensive pads and cosmic grooves. Acid laced deep house cut ‘Belles’ and the chugging disco of ‘Drive Anywhere’—with its breathy vocals and psyched out keys—close things down in great fashion.

This is a vital album that glows with musicality and character from start to finish and provides a bold statement from Nesta and Fantome de Nuit.
