Greek artist Nikola Gala delivers two slices of techno in his ‘Serge EP’ on New Violence Records, including a remix from Dutch producer ONNO.
With previous releases on Ibadan, Freerange, and Rekids, Gala’s creations have impressed all over the world, with the artist travelling to play clubs in Tokyo, London, Madrid, Moscow and Stockholm. He now returns for his second outing on Liverpool label New Violence with his ‘Serge EP’, featuring a muscular remix from Dutch producer ONNO who’s known for his work on Moon Harbour, Saved and VIVa.
‘Serge 93’ kicks things off with rattling percussion, pounding kicks and a peppering of chopped vocals, whereas ONNO’s remix centres around loose tom sounds, strikingly dissonant chords and a bounding bass line. Closing the EP, ‘Serge 95’ increases the tempo whilst shrouding the kicks in misty, ethereal atmospherics to add an element of warmth.
Nikola Gala ‘Serge EP’ comes out on New Violence Records on 20th July.
