Nordoff Robbins Scotland are delighted to bring the electronic music scene in Scotland to the forefront of critics once more with two special award categories in collaboration with Sub Club in 2017.
The one-off ‘Exceptional Contribution’ and ‘Electronic Music’ award categories will help to highlight the incredible electronic scene in Scotland to the world once more.
Electronic Music award nominee Denis Sulta has had an incredible couple of years. Since being propelled into public consciousness with breakthrough hit ‘It’s Only Real’ two years ago, 2017 saw Denis enter the much-revered ‘Resident Advisor Top 100 DJs worldwide’ at number 21, start his own label & party series ‘Sulta Selects’, tour North America and Asia and pick up a nomination for DJ Mag’s ‘Best DJ’ in their 2017 Best of British (having won ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ in 2016). The wonder boy from Glasgow who cut his teeth playing at Sub Club and working in Rubadub has become a global phenomenon.
Taking time out from a tour of Asia, Denis Sulta spoke about his excitement to be nominated for the SSE Scottish Music Award sponsored by Sub Club. Watch the videohere
Nordoff Robbins Scotland added the ‘Electronic Music’ category for the first time in 2016 and this year’s awards will see a special one-off ‘Exceptional Contribution’category added to the mix. The bespoke award will help bring Sub Club’s 30thanniversary celebrations to a close.
The one-off category will highlight the winner’s immense contribution to the electronic music scene in Scotland over the last three decades. The winner of the special one-off award will remain a surprise until the 2nd December ceremony when the winner will accept the award in person, presented by sponsors Sub Club.
Sub Club are marking the close of 2017 in style, bringing the curtain down on their XXX (30th year) celebrations with a series of events including Larry Heard live at the Barrowland Ballroom the night before the SSE Scottish Music Awards, Harri & Domenic b2b with award nominees Slam the night of the awards and a very special XXX (30thyear) closing party: NYE with Harri & Domenic all night long.
2016’s SSE Scottish Music Award winners and attendees included Travis, Amy MacDonald, The Lapelles and Twin Atlantic and 2017 looks to be even bigger and better than before.
