Hitmaker and Selected. mainstay Nu Aspect has teamed up with vocalist-of-the-moment Poppy Baskcomb to deliver a huge hit-in-the-making. ‘Over The Edge’, co-produced by Punctual and co-written by Miggy Dela Rosa, will be released on 27th September via Selected.
Dramatic yet mellow, the emotive and danceable, ‘Over The Edge’ packs euphoric deep house sounds with the warmth of classic trance. It’s like Café Del Mar and Binary Finary’s ‘1998’ reworked for modern ravers.
‘Over The Edge’ lands perfectly. A slightly off-kilter synth evolves, paired with Poppy’s celestial vocals. After a cinematic build-up that sits within a vast sonic space, Nu Aspect – when many producers might opt for an all-out frenzy of drums – drops into a simple, elegant drop where the soft thuds of the kick drum converge with minimal percussion that leaves space for imagination.
Garnering over 300 million Spotify streams and six million monthly listeners, Nu Aspect is no stranger to crafting compelling hits. The London-based, Bristol-born producer, signed exclusively to Selected. – has captivated the scene with his distinctive trance-infused, bass-driven house and techno sound. Debuting on Selected. in 2017 with ‘Things I Said’, he’s gone on to release numerous hits including ‘Miss You’, ‘Sleepless’ (110M streams), and ‘Run’ with ATB.
‘Over The Edge’ vocalist and singer-songwriter Poppy Baskcomb has been an in-demand addition to huge hits by some of the biggest names in dance music, including Tïesto, Sub Focus, Anyma, Meduza and Dimension, among many others. She boasts over seven million monthly listeners on Spotify and over one billion streams as a songwriter, having written or co-written an impressive 100 tracks so far in her ten-year career. Singer-songwriter Miggy Del Rosa is one final contributor to ‘Over The Edge’ that simply can’t be forgotten. An important vocalist behind some of dance music’s biggest hits as of late, having worked with the likes of Sigala, Meduza, Don Diablo, Emilie Sande, George Michael and Paloma Faith. Now, he’s coming to the fore as a vocalist, having debuted in the limelight on 2022’s smash-hit ‘Ferrari’, which he wrote and produced alongside James Hype.
