New York producer Exstra has returned with another ethereal club offering ‘Round & Round’ on May 2nd, 2025 on the Enormous Chills imprint. The track, which premiered on CLASH Magazine and landed support from the prestigious publication YourEDM, features vocals from the enchanting singer Frýnn, known for her collaborations with titans like CamelPhat and Mathame. Exstra boasts 1.8 million streams across platforms, making waves with releases on renowned record labels like Colorize, Enormous Tunes, and Zerothree.
‘Round & Round’ follows the success of Exstra’s 2024 singles, ‘All I’ll Ever Know’ and ‘Frozen’ which garnered notable support from Magnetic Magazine and House Music With Love. These tracks also received airplay on Nora En Pure’s Purified Radio and were featured on AVIRA’s The Sound Gallery which aired on Sirius XM. Additionally, Exstra’s work has been supported by KISS FM and EDM Identity.
In February 2023, Exstra performed at the We Belong Here music festival in Miami, alongside headliners Kaskade and Lane 8. He also provided DJ support for Martin Roth the following month. In 2024, Exstra returned to the We Belong Here festival in New York City, performing alongside artists like Kaskade, Monolink, Fisher, and Stephan Bodzin.
From Valley Stream, New York and currently residing in The Big Apple, Steven Landis grew up listening to a lot of poppy electronic music in the late 90s (Robert Miles, Le Bouche, A Touch of Class, Pete Konemann, etc). His foray into the world of electronic music began slowly. He dabbled in cello in elementary school, but it didn’t stick. He then joined the school choir in middle school and was selected to join a more exclusive chorale in high school, travelling to Rome and Florence for performances and even sung in the Vatican – but it was after seeing Avicii live during his time in university that inspired him to become a DJ. He began performing as Exstra at parties and local nightclubs in Washington, DC (Shadowroom, Opera, etc.). After graduating in 2013 and moving to NYC, he played at just about every nightclub in the city between 2013 and 2020. Gaining traction, he was also booked for international gigs in Paris and Cambodia during that period. In 2020, Covid lockdowns led him to pursue music production, honing his skills and landing his first record deal with Enormous Chills four months later.
Exstra’s sonic palette blends dark analogue sounds together with beautiful organic tones to create music that keeps you hypnotised on the dance floor. Influenced by Nora En Pure, Cassian, Camelphat and Joris Voorn, his music is a mesmerising miasma of melodic and progressive house sure to ensnare fans of the above, as well as those of Sultan & Shepard, Le Youth, Tinlicker and Eli & Fur.
‘Round & Round’ begins with a steady four-on-the-floor and the subtle introduction of a contrastingly light hang drum, dancing in a delicate arpeggiated eddy around the driving rhythm, remaining a constant motif throughout the rest of the song. The layers gently stack up as the song progresses, with deep, dark bass and atmospheric pads ushering in Frýnn’s celestial yet anthemic vocals. The song’s intensity ebbs and flows with intricate precision, building to a soft yet cathartic ending, leaving listeners in a hypnotised daze.
