Oasis Festival Announces First Acts For 2018

Morocco's Oasis Festival will continue to be a source of local inspiration and global acclaim in 2018 when the fourth edition plays out in the shadow of the Atlas Mountains. Taking place from the 14th to the 16th September in Marrakech, the first wave of acts for this most authentic and intimate three-day African experience are revealed today, including a headline set from Carl Cox and acts including Actress x Mount Kimbie B2B DJ Set, Avalon Emerson, Derrick Carter B2B The Black Madonna, Jessy Lanza (DJ Set), Nastia, Octo Octa, Paula Temple, Rødhåd, Tim Sweeney and William Djoko.

Oasis Festival was the first of its kind in Morocco and in the four years since starting has set a high standard, kickstarting the local scene and tempting adventurous party revellers to dance somewhere different. Not only does it offer world class headliners of the sort not usually found in the region, but it does so with real style and focus on production. Set in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, the palm tree lined resort boasts stage-side swimming pools, plush tropical gardens and stunning views of the breathtaking North African landscape.

Musically, of course, Oasis Festival is just as special: headlining will be Carl Cox, the legendary techno figure who is sure to be at home in the desert thanks to his celebrated sets at Burning Man. Stepping up for a unique back-to-back is Honest Jons’ experimental producer Actress playing alongside Warp’s rhythm driven electronic rock fusionists, Mount Kimbie.

Another special back-to-back between Chicago native Derrick Carter and party starting superstar The Black Madonna will be a big draw full of house and disco gold, and the ever-unpredictable Avalon Emerson is sure to serve up another colourful and personal set that whips through everything from techno to electro to acid.

Hyperdub’s synth-pop futurist Jessy Lanza brings her own critically acclaimed mix of house, r&b and electro, Ukrainian techno talent Nastia will offer hi-energy sounds and Berghain regular and Dystopian label boss Rødhåd will offer a dark, loopy and hypnotic take on techno. Legendary Beats In Space radio show host and label bossTim Sweeney will also bring his eclectic bag of tricks, and William Djoko, Denis Horvat and Powder provide high class club soundtracks to keep you dancing.

Next to these, special live shows come from 100% Silk’s seductive deep house star Octo Octa and music technology addict Paula Temple—whose restless, innovative sets blur the lines between production and DJing will be performing a special hybrid set. Representing local Moroccan talent will be Monile and the multi-genre performer, Kosh (live).

Oasis is where ancient history marries with a futuristic soundtrack and gives you the chance to dance under a blanket of stars at night and enjoy guaranteed sunshine by day. This year, the atmospheric Desert Oasis and Arena stages will be complemented by a brand new stage, bringing the total number to three. A real escapist experience that offers plenty of mouthwatering delights from hookah pipes to speciality tea—all locally sourced—you can also indulge in mind cleansing yoga and traditional henna tattoos, reset in the spa, lay out on sun loungers and generally soak up a very real Moroccan experience at the hands of welcoming locals.

There is lots more to come from Oasis Festival 2018, but already it is shaping up to be the one truly standout destination music holiday of the year.

Oasis 2018 will take place from 14th – 16th September 2018. 3-day festival tickets from 160€ are on sale now. Book your place and keep up to date with all of the latest news at theoasisfest.com.
