Two of the most respected promoters and imprints in underground house, ElRow and Kaluki, join forces this June for a two part various artists release entitled ‘Off Week BCN’.
The release will be split across the two labels, the first one via Elrow and the second, Kaluki Musik. As highly esteemed global brands respectively Elrow and Kaluki have toured the globe with their events while the labels have played host to material from some of the contemporary scene’s household names such as Bontan, Patrick Topping, Solardo and Max Chapman amongst many more.
Hauswerks’ ‘Way Back When’ opens the compilation on a tribal tip via jungle field recordings, organic rhythms, chanting vocals and bulbous subs before Ki Creighton’s ‘The Boogie Monster’ lays focus on snaking bass grooves, sweeping atmospheric synth whirrs and murky low-pitched vocal flutters.
Max Chapman’s contribution ‘Amelia’ follows and embraces a direct groove-led aesthetic with rumbling subs, tumbling drum grooves and subtle vocal fills, while Supernova’s ‘2 Get Her’ introduces heady acid blips and hooky vocal licks ahead of closing cut ‘Liquorice’ from Simone Liberali which fuses infectious drum programming with horn swells and R&B tinged vocal additions.
The various artists ‘Off Week BCN V/A Part 1’ package is out on ElRow Music 12th June 2017.
