Olakira Builds Up To His ‘4play’ Release With The Infectious Sere

Olakira builds the excitement towards his May-released EP ‘4play’ by dropping its first single; ‘Sere’. Teaming up with the talented Zuchu, the track is available everywhere now.

Working with producers Simba Tagz, Drumatik and Sterryo, smooth pads wrap the song in a chilled vibe that permeates to the laid back and percussive Afrobeat rhythms and drums. Ornamented light-synth melodies sing along with Olakira’s playful vocals, and Zuchu’s feature is a beautiful changeup to keep it moving and add a romantic storyline to the piece.

“It means ‘Play’ in the Nigerian Language of Yoruba,” explains Olakira. “‘Sere’ is about inviting a love interest to come hang out and play.” The track perfectly reflects the tone of the lyrics, and both vocalists work seamlessly together.

Hailing from Ogun State in Nigeria but currently living in Lagos, Olakira has been making waves on the Afrobeat scene that have washed up on global shores. His smash-hit ‘In My Maserati’ has had over 7 million streams on Spotify alone, which has led to a remix with DaVido performing just as well. Olakira has multiple production credits for other artists too, and plays many different instruments all of which are self-taught.

This talent is why his much-hyped forthcoming EP ‘4play’ will be one of the most exciting Afrobeat releases of the year, dropping May 14th. The 6-track serenade will be perfect for rolling into early summer, and with ‘Sere’, Olakira definitely lives up to the hype, and more.
