When long-time friends and occasional studio partners – both hailing from Uppsala in Sweden – Oliver Nelson and Tobtok come together, they aways deliver the magic. From their nu disco rework of ‘99 Red Balloons’ to the uplifting house track ‘Something Bout The Music’, you can literally hear the special bond between these two artists in every single beat.
Individually, these Swedish talents have been on an upward trajectory for some time. Nelson has over 650 million global streams thanks to his now trademark nu-disco style across a series of high-profile remixes including NEIKED, Ella Henderson and Donna Summer to name a few. Nelson’s infamous remix of The Wombats’ ‘Greek Tragedy’ got officially released six years after it was originally made and now clocks 6.5million streams on Soundcloud alone.
Nelson is a master in the studio, evident in collaborations with Kygo on ‘Riding Shotgun’ (Sony) and on the big house production ‘Is It Real?’ released via the label that discovered him, Perfect Havoc. Ever pushing the envelope, Nelson is also one third of the electro-pop group Moodshift, alongside Grammy-winner, Lucas Nord, and vocalist, flyckt. Outside of the studio, he’s been spinning dancey sets at Ushuaia, Tomorrowland, Brooklyn Mirage and Village Underground.
Tobtok aka Tobias Karlsson, is one of the most talented artists leading the new wave of Swedish electronic music DJ / producers. He has generated over 600 million streams globally across his original work, remixes and productions for Joel Corry, Robin Schulz and Karen Harding to name a few, on such illustrious labels as Ministry of Sound, Kitsuné and of course, his home at Perfect Havoc.
Tobtok’s highlight outings include the Australian double platinum record, ‘Fast Car’; flexing his DJ skills on Toolroom Records’ ‘Miami Poolside’ compilation; and the 2020 release ‘New Levels’ which as well as being made ‘Tune of the Week’ on BBC Radio 1, picked up key DJ support from Sam Feldt, Sigala, Tiësto and many more.
‘Sail To You’ is another quality release for Perfect Havoc. The funk guitar opening and soulful vocal from Leo Stannard has full-blown strutting appeal and shouts for the love of disco both Nelson and Tobtok have. Alongside a punching house beat and quirky key changes, this track is packed with clever nuances showing off Nelson and Tobok at their very best.
Shortlisted for Best Independent Record Label at the 2023 Music Week Awards, Perfect Havoc’s niche of crossover dance alongside club-focused sounds has accumulated over 10 billion global streams and given rise to six UK Top 20 singles and multiple platinum, gold, and silver awards.
Keep an ear out for more Perfect Havoc releases in 2023 with cuts also from Varski and Cammie Robinson, Kisch and Osar Duke, and Just Kiddin.
