Based in America but hailing from the UK, drum & bass producer Olly Brown has used his roots to finesse a production technique which is already turning heads. Having spent the last two years honing his craft, he’s recently been picked up by multi genre dance music label HOT GROOVERS, spearheaded by producer and DJ Ben Spalding, who took notice of his talent whilst signing him under the imprints banner. The HOT GROOVERS camp was a perfect fit for Olly Brown, with its eclectic and diverse output giving him the creative freedom he needed to produce his forthcoming EP which is set to drop in May 2023.
Focusing primarily on the liquid drum & bass sub genre, Olly Brown shows the effect it’s had on his life through his assured, infections and euphoric interpretation of its sounds. The ‘Dreamer’ EP is an example of how he’s been able to expand his production knowledge over the years, using the different influences of the US and the UK to deliver tracks like the ones offered throughout ‘Dreamer’. The rolling synthesis of ‘Wonder’ cuts through first alongside its sliced and diced vocal samples, meanwhile ‘Higher’ presents itself on top of lush percussion and sequenced piano notes – reminiscing more on the old school. Title-track ‘Dreamer’ follows suit with the same energy, amongst soulful vocals driving its crescendos. Finally, ‘Desire’ brings the EP to a close. Another lush offering from a drum & bass artist pushing his way through the scene’s newcomers.
HOT GROOVERS once again provides a producer making waves within the wider field of electronic music to its vast audience, and with artists like Olly Brown paving the way, they’re sure to have another unstoppable year in 2023.
