Jason Burns - Once Again EP

Portland native Jason Burns (Toolroom, Nurvous) drops Once Again EP on SOUP NYC: three timeless originals with a deep tech remix from Tekla completing an impressive package.
 
As a veteran DJ and producer with releases on Toolroom, Nervous Records, Anabatic, Symbols, Love&Other, and RAM Recordings, Jason Burns has a reputation for defying genre conventions. Drawing from a wide array of influences including disco, classic house, garage, R&B, soul, pop, and acid house, he has molded a unique sound that doesn’t fit neatly into any box.
 
From the very first bar his latest EP for SOUP NYC sounds utterly timeless, with the looped amen break of ‘Once Again’ soon joined by layered vocals and a rave horns and huge, infectious bass loop. ‘Fall Down’ is similarly structured and equally as evocative: once again the bassline is the main attraction, but with spacey pads and classic, rising chords brought in to create a truly euphoric drop.
 
On the remix, Tekla is back on SOUP NYC after his 2017 solo EP, and delivers a deeply immersive tech house workout, with rolling drums, sinister, buzzing synths and clipped vocals nicely building the tension. Finally, a third original from Burns ‘Monochromatic Word’ is an exquisite acid workout with an utterly sublime, break-driven mid-section that will leave dancefloors reeling.
