Onno drops ‘Off The Grid’ EP this November on Ama Recordings with remixes from Okain and Ray Okpara.
Following the successful ‘Love Dancing’ EP from Marko Nastic which saw major support from DJ Sneak, KiNK, Mr G & Dubfire to name a few, Ama Recordings is back this November with a fiery four-track offering in Onno’s ‘Off The Grid’ EP which includes remixes from Okain & Ama label head Ray Okpara. Since 2001 Dutchman Onno van Velzen has stacked up releases on Upon You, Get Physical, Saved and Moon Harbour Recordings cementing his bass heavy blend of house & techno in the minds of the many with resounding success.
For title-track ‘Off The Grid’ Onno delivers a dynamic EP opener working a muffled male vox uttering “off the grid” over warm dusty percussion and shifting pads while his second offering ‘Confused’ takes things a little darker utilising heavy warped bass, resonating percussion and slapping pads to dish up a gritty and infectious track.
French-native and Tsuba Records man Okain remixes ‘Off The Grid’ by working a 303 line over rippling bass and frisky drums to punch out a groove-laden house cut with a subtle yet suitable acid-twist. For the second re-imagining Ama Recordings head honcho Ray Okpara remixes ‘Confused’ incorporating mechanic modulations and twisted bass to draw the four-track EP to a classy close.
Ama Recordings release ‘Off The Grid’ EP from Onno on 26th November 2014.
