Over Half A Million Votes Roll In For SSE Live Awards So Far

The annual SSE Live Awards have kicked off in earnest at The SSE Hydro, Glasgow and the competition to be voted the best act of 2016 is fierce!

It’s been an incredible year of live entertainment at the SSE arenas in Glasgow, Belfast and Wembley, with some of the most famous acts in the world taking to the stage, however there can only be one SSE Live Award winner for each venue.

Voting has been open to event-goers at The SSE Hydro throughout December with over 500,000 votes already cast across the venues for a range of acts and events including Adele, Wet Wet Wet, Justin Bieber, Barry Manilow and early front-runner SSE Presents…Andy Murray Live. Voting is open until 31st January.

The SSE Live Awards, brought to you by proud venue title sponsor SSE and their exclusive customer benefit programme SSE Reward, is a popular annual vote in the UK’s entertainment industry. Fans can vote for their favourite acts that have performed at one of the three venues in 2016 by visiting www.ssereward.com.  The act who receives the most votes from their fans at each venue will be announced as the SSE Live Awards winners in February 2017.

The SSE Live Awards 2015 was a brilliant success at both The SSE Hydro and The SSE Arena, Wembley with over 800,000 votes cast between both venues.

Paolo Nutini won the coveted award for The SSE Hydro with over one third of the total number of votes cast for venue.

At The SSE Arena, Wembley last year, Queen & Adam Lambert were crowned winners with an outstanding 298,000 votes cast for them.

For the first time, the SSE Live Awards will this year also include The SSE Arena, Belfast.

Every voter will not only get to vote for their idols but they also have the chance to win tickets to a choice of gigs taking place at the venues later this year.

Colin Banks, Head of Sponsorship & Reward at SSE, said: “We are very proud to be title sponsor for three such well-recognised and respected venues and we’re really excited to be bringing the SSE Live Awards once again to our Glasgow and Wembley venues and of course, introducing the vote to Belfast too. What makes these awards extra special is the fact that they are the fan’s awards – it is their choice as to who wins and this really adds to the honour of winning this coveted title.”

Anyone can vote in the awards but if you’re an SSE customer you can also sign up to SSE Reward to have access to purchase tickets up to 48 hours in advance of general sale. There are also exclusive ticketing offers and prizes only available to SSE customers at www.ssereward.com
