Barcelona-based DJ/producer Miguel Bastida has remixed AFFKT and Thomas Gandy’s latest track, ‘Overnight Sensation’. Out now on Kling Klong Records, Miguel Bastida’s remix is a creative rework of a track that has already received support from the likes of Maceo Plex, Monika Kruse and Pan-Pot.
The original version of ‘Overnight Sensation’ has an indie and disco-inflected touch, thanks to the distinctive vocals of British singer Thomas Gandey (formerly known as Cagedbaby). Whilst these lead the original in a song-like structure, Miguel Bastida uses them in snippets, lending the track a more club-ready treatment. The grooving feel of the original is preserved, but the bass is bigger and peppered with jacking hi-hats. Electronic melodies echo in and out, whilst drum rolls crescend in waves. Miguel Bastida’s remix takes ‘Overnight Sensation’ into deeper and darker territory, ideally suited to the international late-night dancefloors that he regularly frequents as a DJ.
