This January Philip Bader delivers three jacking originals on Lost Records alongside remixes from Detlef, PAWSA and Kalyde.
As the brainchild of key underground tastemakers Leftwing & Kody, the London-based Lost Records has been making some serious waves since it’s formation back in 2013. In its relatively short lifespan the impressive imprint can boast a heavy hitting roster featuring names like Darius Syrossian, Waifs & Strays, Copy Paste Soul, Hector Couto and Mia Dora to name a few. This January the label gets into its seventeenth release with three originals from Berlin-based Philip Bader and a trio of remixes from Detlef, PAWSA and Kalyde.
Since bursting onto the production scene in 2005 Philip Bader has been going from strength-to-strength with an incredible back-catalogue of work that runs across labels like Moon Harbour, Saved, Highgrade, This And That and Dirtybird to name a few. ‘Keep Ya Head Up’ is another sublime offering from Bader, dishing up three deep & dynamic cuts peppered with Berlin influences.
EP opener and title track ‘Keep Ya Head Up’ is a gritty no-nonsense cut built around thumping bass and shifting percussion. ‘Blue Frog’ takes things a little groovier over beautifully basic pads and arpeggiated tones while the punchy drums of ‘Handmade’ strip things back once more to deliver a bouncy house workout.
First up for remix duty is VIVa Music man Detlef who stamps his own tribal rhythms on ‘Handmade’, while Lost affiliate PAWSA works soft pads and rippling drums to dish up a melodic groove-laden twist reworking of ‘Blue Frog’. For the final offering on the EP fresh up-and-coming talent Kalyde cultivates frisky rhythms and robust beats around a resonating vox to close things off in a raw and vibrant fashion for his re-imagining of ‘Keep Ya Head Up’.
Philip Bader ‘Keep Ya Head Up’ EP is out on Lost Records on 19th January 2015.
