Brazil’s MEMNTGN imprint returns 9th March with Stroka’s ‘Phobophobia’ EP, comprising three originals from the Carlos Capslock resident.
Leonardo Stroka, better known by simply the latter, has been steadily gaining recognition on his home turf of Brazil with shows as the infamous D-Edge club and many other events in the country, one of which includes the highly respected Carlos Capslock where he holds a residency and plays regularly alongside the MEMNTGN crew L_cio and Tessuto who head up the label as well as the party.
Title track ‘Phobophobia’ opens the release with chuggy arpeggios, drawn out bass drones and skippy drums to set the tone perfectly before ‘Minifather’ takes an experimental approach via distorted 8bit like tones, bubbling subs and warbling synth leads.
‘Diving Back In’ then closes the package, reverting back to the four/four rhythmically whilst stirring in heady delayed synth lines, hooky arps and menacing bass tones throughout.
Stroka’s ‘Phobophobia’ EP is out on MEMNTGN 9th March 2018. Tracklist
