Playful electronic-pop duo dropped colorful new EP

Swim Swim Naked are a Budapest-based electronic-pop duo from Hungary, founded in 2024 by singer Krisztina Nagy and producer Dani Makkay, who take the stage in bold jumpsuits and surround themselves with a tangle of colorful cables. Their project blends melodic pop elements with electronic music, featuring experimental rhythms and a unique mix of unusual sounds, such as splashing water.

Their debut EP, Octopus (February 2024), invites listeners on a shared “swim,” from the first splash to a deep dive. Their message focuses on supporting freedom, creativity, and an open-minded way of thinking. Their latest EP, Sepiida, will be released in 2025 and holds many surprises.

Sepiida is a five-track EP complemented by four shorter interludes. While several songs had been previously released as singles, the EP also features brand-new material. The title is no coincidence: Sepiida means “cuttlefish” in Latin, symbolizing the record’s colorful diversity. Each song captures a different mood and moment in life, ranging from reflections on addiction to the carefree lightness of summer, nostalgic memories, childlike honesty, and pure, liberating joy.

Adding an extra layer of creativity, the band also designed a coloring book to accompany the EP, featuring unique visual artworks inspired by the songs. Musically, Sepiida blends electronic, digital, and analog elements with live vocals and various ambient sounds from metro noise and church bells to the sounds of keys. The making of the EP involved many collaborators, both directly and indirectly. Two songs were accompanied by music videos: Cool, produced with a 30-person crew, and Apple Pie, created by a small four-member team. The EP also features Hold Tight, which has a live performance video recorded at Sofar Sounds. Some tracks include guest vocalists as well.

The duo has also made their presence known internationally, performing at DIY parties in Stockholm and Copenhagen, where they brought their vibrant and experimental sound to new audiences in grassroots, underground settings. The band has played at the international Sofar Sounds project in Debrecen, and has supported popular bands such as Kadebostany from Switzerland and Cari Cari from Austria.
