Positiva Records score 2 x Top #5 singles in this week’s Official UK Charts

Jonas Blue’s ‘Rise’ and Tiesto’s ‘Jackie Chan’ both hit the Top 5 in the same week for iconic label

Positiva Records is proud to mark its 25th Anniversary with two of the label’s silver-certified singles making the Top 5 in the UK Official Charts, with Jonas Blue’s ‘Rise’ (110 million Spotify streams) and Tiesto’s Post Malone collaboration ‘Jackie Chan’ (158 million Spotify streams) now hitting the number #3 and #5 spots in the same week.

The iconic imprint, first set up in 1993, has been celebrating the landmark occasion with a series of special events in 2018 so far (including a showcase evening at Ministry of Sound), with the news signalling the third time that 2 x Positiva releases have occupied the Top 5, and first time since April 2000. (Fragma’s ‘Toca Miracle’ and Watergate’s ‘Merry Xmas Mr Lawrence’).

With a staggering 14 UK #1 singles, Positiva has been at the heart of dance music culture for a quarter of a century, and spawned iconic music moments including the infamous Spiller & Sophie Ellis-Bextor vs. Dane Bowers and Victoria Beckham chart battle in 2000, and David Guetta’s record breaking run of top 5 singles between 2009 and 2012. Since then, David Zowie became the first ever Friday #1 with ‘House Every Weekend’ in 2015, with recent success stories including Young Romantic’s ‘Move (Time to Get Loose)’ and Martin Solveig’s ‘My Love.’

“UK singles chart success has always meant a lot to the label and to me personally, so to have two releases in the top 5 simultaneously gives us a real sense of achievement – especially given how the chart behaves in the streaming era.” said Jason Ellis, Positiva’s A&R director.

“Jonas continues to go from strength to strength, and ‘Rise’ is well on the way to matching the global success of ‘Mama’. I’m thrilled to finally have Tiesto on the label – we’ve been releasing his material on Virgin in the UK since ‘Red Lights’, but Tijs is a legendary figure for the scene as a whole, and we couldn’t be happier to be playing a part in what looks like being the biggest hit of his career.”

With the label shifting over 35 million sales in the UK alone across their rich history thus far, the success of Jonas Blue’s ‘Rise’ and Tiesto’s ‘Jackie Chan’ proves that Positiva remains at the very summit of the music industry, a full quarter century after the label’s inception.

With more huge summer releases in the pipeline, including Purple Disco Machine’s ‘Dished’and Ten Ven’s ‘Just About’, Positiva continue their huge landmark year with a series of remixes available the Positiva Vinyl Club ahead of the label’s forthcoming Positiva 25compilation, out on 5th October.
