The Frederik - Prelude EP

Taken as an excerpt from the vastly diverse ‘Deadset Momentum’ LP (due for release later this year) the ‘Prelude EP’ serves as an epitomy of The Frederik’s style and production ability.

The EP showcases the two styles the classically trained musician is producing at the moment; the 4/4 bangers that would sit comfortably alongside the greats that influenced him; Noisia, Wolfgang Gartner and Deadmau5. The other side of the EP is more bass-heavy, taking cues from the current sounds from the US that are both popular stateside and in his home town of Copenhagen.

‘Peak Control’ is a notable piece that came about whilst The Frederik was well into the making of the album. It’s a track that clearly references his electronic musical roots. The piece is structured on the concept of a  4/4 pattern and relies on a carefully crafted analogue growl-based groove. It features a top line monologue written by the artist about taking our surroundings for given.

Collaborating again with the notorious Messinian, who always brings next-level energy to his unmistakable vox-works; ‘Wyte’ is a meeting between Arabian inspired disco and vomit-like bass growls that will delight bass-head fans from across the Atlantic to Europe and beyond.

‘Averse’ is the untameable and cocky bastard child of a tune that relies solely on bass sound design deriving from analogue equipment. The track has been skilfully crafted to give the impression that the second drop hits at half the speed of the first whilst still maintaining the same tempo and heavy bass line.

The multi-talented artist also returns to the design board, crafting his own artwork along with the progression of his sound showing his inspiration in story-telling, typography, fashion, skulls, bones and animals. The ‘Prelude EP’ does the intended; showcasing what we can expect later this year from the enigmatic artist that is The Frederik.
