21st November will see prolific French DJ/producer Popof release his latest EP, entitled ‘President’, via his globally respected imprint, Form Music.
Popof’s past offerings on labels such as Sven Väth’s Cocoon and Jamie Jones Hot Creations as well as via his own, imprint, Form, have demonstrated why he is considered one of the best in the game, just as confortable producing a full length LP (Love Somebody, 2015) as he is remixing acts of Depeche Mode or Moby’s calibre.
Now, he turns his attention back to Form, releasing his first solo outing on his label since the 2010 EP, ‘Wax Machine’.
Kicking off the release is the title-named track, ‘President’, which addresses the upcoming US presidential election, combining comical lines from Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton with a pulsating, quirky four-on-the-floor rhythm.
The deep-groover ‘One Two’ follows, layering percussion, off-kilter pad effects and chopped-up vocals with real panache, showcasing the Parisian’s ability to create enigmatic, playful Techno.
Closing the EP is ‘Keep Colors’. Like the aforementioned tracks, Popof once again utilises vocal snippets and samples, intricately placing them throughout the six-minute number alongside the dizzying synth patterns to create an energetic closing track.
‘President’ EP is available via Beatport on 21st November and everywhere else 9th December.
