Public Service Broadcasting have just been announced for the BBC’s, four-city, Biggest Weekend festival taking place in May. The group have confirmed they’ll be performing a commissioned piece of work at the Titanic Slipways, Belfast – The historic location where the Titanic was built and from where the ship was first launched into the water.
Speaking on BBC 6 Music, J. Wilgoose, Esq. of Public Service Broadcasting says he was “approached by a shadowy figure in the 6 Music green room” and couldn’t refuse the offer to write new music about “a fascinating subject”. Over the course of the band’s last three albums, J Wilgoose, Esq has developed a real penchant and love for telling the story behind the story. They explored the silence and broken communication on The Other Side from album Race for Space, the nobility of work on Every Valley and now the story of the construction of the Titanic and its early, and tragic, demise.
This set promises to be incredibly special; building on their newly-announced summer 2018 festival dates and a superlative 2017 which saw the release of their no.4 record Every Valley and a sold-out UK tour which included a spectacular performance at London's Hammersmith Apollo.
