Pure Intec: Carl Cox & Jon Rundell

If you look back over the previous years’ programming Thursday nights here at fabric have been quite stylistically intriguing: an immersive surround sound audio visual presentation of Robert Henke’s last Monolake album or, at the other end of the style spectrum, Brazilian funk pioneers Azymuth performing their landmark Light As A Feather album. And looking forward, FABRICLIVE’s winter season welcomes the visionary and shamelessly controversial artist, Dinos Chapman, into Room One for the UK debut of his audio visual wonderworld. What unites all these events is the sense of occasion and the next Thursday night we’re adding the diary is no exception to this rule.

Enter Carl Cox and Jon Rundell’s seminal imprint, Intec, who are set to takeover Room One on 3rd October where they’ll fully represent the sound of their label’s output. The event follows a year of international programming which has seen the pair break out the extensive back catalogue of their label. Founded by Cox first in 1999 (coincidentally the same year our own club space opened) and – barring a 4 year hiatus from 2006-2010 – the label’s become both a platform for both Cox and Rundell’s own output and other emerging talents alike.

“Pure Intec is about the music and nothing else,” says Intec manager Rundell, “and this event will be no exception. fabric is renowned for its no nonsense music policy, amazing sound system and being able to create an intense atmosphere – making it the perfect fit for our ethos.  It’s going to be another great night in the city for techno.”

Of course there isn’t really an artist around today like Carl Cox: truly one of the founding fathers of techno in the UK. From taking in the influence of Chicago and sound tracking the seminal parties of our era, he has been the back bone of DJ culture ever since maintaining his legendary status. It seems pretty apt then that this night joins our run of standout music on Thursday nights.
