The mysterious duo Pushing Daizies returns with another meaningful, melodic future bass release on Steve Aoki‘s Dim Mak Records, this time it’s a remix of Bear Grillz, Adventure Club & JT Roach‘s “Where We Are,” a lead track of Bear Grillz‘s 2020’s “Friends: The Album” LP. Opening with soulful vocals and piano melodies, the track sets a wistful and nostalgic tone at first; when the glimmering, groovy basslines kick in, the remix takes on a dreamy and otherworldly vibe that is complemented by the positive message contained in its lyrics. True to what has become their signature style, Pushing Daizies remind us that “all we have is where we are” – to appreciate the present moment, the people in it, and the simple joys of being alive. “Where We Are” follows their recent Dim Mak single release “Dreams” featuring Kelsey Ray. This mysterious duo shows no signs of slowing down, so expect more new music from them very soon!
Pushing Daizies is the pseudonym of two US-based dance music producers joining forces. The enigmatic duo makes groovy, bass-heavy, electronic dance music that creates an emotional roller coaster, pulling at the heartstrings of its listeners. The project, which initially began as multiple collaborations between the two artists, transpired as their synergy saw no end in sight. “Once we found our rhythm, we knew we had something special. It was bigger than just a few singles. I guess you could say that the project was an accident in the greatest way possible,” said one of the producers. The term “pushing daisies” refers to the flowers that grow over a burial plot when someone dies, which is symbolic of the cycles of life and death, light and dark. Said differently, when someone dies, life is created.
