Quell – Go Away, Humans!

Greek producer Quell drops the solid house action of ‘Go Away, Humans!’ on Waze & Odyssey’s W&O Street Tracks this May complete with a remix from Palace.

It only takes a quick glance over Nikolaos Raptis’s (aka Quell) discography to be impressed by how much he’s achieved as a young producer. With releases across 2020Vision, Tsuba and Ibadan to name just a few, the Berlin-based producer’s studio dexterity is indisputable and his burgeoning reputation as a quality artist with a broad and eclectic sound has led to Waze & Odyssey signing him for their imprint’s ninth release.

‘Rugburn’ begins the package with a charismatic lead as its centrepiece, whilst cut up vocals, animated stabs and fidgety hats help gear the vibe towards peak time madness. ‘Go Away, Humans!’ then shapes up with a bad-tempered bassline and looped vox as siren-like paroxysms interchange with mesmerising synths.

Tying up the release East London producer Palace – known for his releases and remixes on DJ Haus’s Unknown to the Unknown and Hot Haus imprints – delivers a rendition of ‘Rugburn’ that initiates with solid kicks and offbeat hats before an infectious synth hook, crunchy rimshot and echoed vocal snippets conjure up a cut destined for the afterhours.

Quell drops ‘Go Away, Humans!’ EP on W&O Street Tracks on 4th May 2015.
