Atlanta-based darkwave artist r4vn invites listeners into a dream of untethered magic with the release of ‘raven’s inferno’: A self-produced exploration of eerie beauty and immersive darkness, the album continues r4vn’s growing reputation as one of the most intriguing voices in the witch house underground.
Fusing elements of witch house, dark fairycore, and ethereal electronica, the track builds a ghostly atmosphere through layers of synths, serum, and Arturia keyboard textures. The result is haunting yet delicate — a soundscape that balances the mechanical pulse of electronic production with the otherworldly glow of r4vn’s voice. Fans of Sidewalks and Skeletons, Crystal Castles, Akiaura, and STM will find a familiar unease, but with a uniquely personal mysticism.
“I created ‘raven’s inferno’ dissociating into the void for a while,” says r4vn. “It’s a dream of untethered magic — something that feels both real and unreal, like being pulled into another dimension.”
A self-described “dark gothic experiment,” r4vn’s music blends occult symbolism, gnostic imagery, and introspective emotion. “I produce, sing, write, and compose everything myself to illustrate a world that fully embodies the dark mysticism that speaks from the rawness of my own soul,” they explain. “When I create, I feel free — and that freedom is something I want others to feel too.”
Opening the album with a bold strike, ‘you coward!’ lays bare the restless spirit at the heart of r4vn’s world. From the moment the ghostly synths hover and the beat pulses at around 130 BPM in G‑minor, the listener is pulled into a space where fear and defiance collide. The track is a manifesto of sorts—r4vn’s voice floats through layers of haunting electronics like a ritual invocation, commanding us to face our shadows rather than run from them. It encapsulates her ethos of authenticity, depth and rebellion; here, vulnerability becomes power, and the “you coward!” of the title echoes as much at ourselves as it does at the world. For fans of dark fairy‑core and witch‑house, it’s a perfect gateway into the album’s subterranean universe—minimal yet charged, dreamy yet sharply provocative.
Some other tracks include…
child of the void – Swirling synths and fractured beats create a liminal space where r4vn’s ethereal vocals float like a spectral guide. The track evokes a sense of drifting through unseen dimensions, balancing eerie tension with hypnotic, dreamlike textures.
i eat men like air – Darkly playful and provocatively titled, this track fuses distorted percussion with airy synths, exploring themes of power and liberation. r4vn’s vocals are at once seductive and commanding, drawing listeners into her shadowy mythology.
babe of the abyss – Minimalist yet immersive, the track layers slow, pulsating rhythms with haunting melodic fragments, creating a cinematic sense of descent. It feels like wandering through a gothic dreamscape where danger and beauty coexist.
flirting with madness – This track teeters between chaos and clarity, with glitchy textures and hypnotic loops mirroring the tension of a mind on the edge; It’s a visceral embodiment of r4vn’s fascination with the unseen and the unknown.
the watcher. – this track pairs sparse instrumentation with distant, echoing vocals. It leaves the listener suspended, as though caught in the act of observing their own shadowed subconscious.
zombie girl – Closing the album on a spooky and ghostly note, the theme comes full circle on this exciting and original piece, finishing on a showstopper!
Raised between the blurred edges of reality and imagination, r4vn transforms personal chaos into dark beauty. Having survived a near-death experience in her youth, she channels that fragile awareness of existence into every note — creating music that feels suspended between worlds. Her songs are both ritual and rebellion: an escape from conformity, a whispered act of defiance against the systems that dull human feeling. Through her haunting blend of sound and symbolism, r4vn isn’t simply building tracks — she’s crafting an ever-expanding mythology where the misunderstood can belong, and darkness becomes a kind of light.
Following the success of their track added to Sidewalks and Skeletons’ Witch House playlist (Drifting in Hyperspace), ‘raven’s inferno’ signals a new phase for r4vn’s evolving sound.
Beyond music, r4vn is deeply inspired by the occult, anarchism, philosophy, and the natural world — influences that shape both the sound and the subtext of their work. “I’m not religious, but I find beauty in mythology and gnostic ideas,” they add. “My goal is to build a community of gothic weirdos who dance, dream, and feel free together.”
Cover art for ‘raven’s inferno’ was created in an accidental collaboration with the Atlanta Police Department and r4vn themself — a surreal reflection of chaos meeting creation.
‘raven’s inferno’ is available on all major streaming platforms.
