ANNIE MAC, PETE TONG AND DANNY HOWARD TO HOST LIVE SHOWS AND EVENTS IN IBIZA TO CELEBRATE RADIO 1’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY ON THE ISLAND
BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac this evening announced plans for Radio 1 Ibiza 20 – a massive weekend of dance music that will take place this summer to celebrate Radio 1’s 20th anniversary of broadcasting shows and hosting events in Ibiza.
Firmly established as one of the most eagerly anticipated dates in Ibiza’s summer season, in 2015 the station’s annual weekend on the island will be bigger and better than ever to mark the special anniversary, with events and broadcasts taking place from Friday 31st July to Sunday 2nd August.
As a part of the celebrations, Radio 1’s Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Danny Howard will host live shows and events during the dance-fuelled weekend that will be packed full of the best new music and hottest sets and will feature the best DJs and artists from the world of dance.
Rhys Hughes, Head of Programmes, Radio 1 and 1Xtra said: “I’m delighted that Radio 1 will be returning to the white isle for our 20th anniversary – Ibiza’s always been a key moment for us to showcase our dance DJs and specialist music output and this year will be even bigger.”
Further details about Radio 1 Ibiza 20, including ticketing information and the full line-up for the weekend will be revealed on Radio 1 in the coming weeks.
Radio 1’s first broadcast from Ibiza was in July 1995 – an Essential Mix by Nicky Holloway at Manumission at Ku (now Privilege). This was followed by a Pete Tong Essential Mix on 13th August and a Paul Oakenfold Essential Mix on 17th September.
