NYC house royalty Rich Furniss has been making waves on the East Coast and beyond for well over a decade. Label partner at Quincy Boy Records and releasing on House U, Global 305 and In It Together, he’s been a consistent presence on the Stateside electro, house and bass scene. It was surely only a matter of time then before he launched his own imprint; today he does exactly that, releasing inaugural track ‘Bang It’ on his new label Space Wav.
A collaboration with Valerie Valentine and Proper Villains, the track is everything gritty NYC electro does best. Bumping bass rhythms and descending, depth-dropping FX undulate in the background, Valentine and Proper Villains’ competing vocals swapping back and forth on the top end across stripped back percussion. It’s dark, it’s simple, and it’s highly effective – everything fans of Furniss will have come to expect from the seasoned producer.
With more music expected to drop from the label – and this particular trio – it’s an exciting new chapter from a producer who clearly has his roots in the underground and on the streets of NYC. Authentic, slick and gritty, it’s yet another notch on the musical bedpost from Rich Furniss.
