British singer and songwriter Riva Taylor is pleased to reveal that her brand new single Magic is out now. Riva wrote this new offering in Nashville, and rallied in Jakwob (Celeste, Little Simz, Charlie XCX) on production. Magic is a timeless track that combines both nostalgic and current soundscapes, a track that easily seats Riva Taylor firmly next to contemporary peers such as Celeste, Joy Crookes and Arlo Parks. It follows up Riva’s previous single, the brooding and delicate Celebrate released in November last year alongside a hypnotic video.
Riva Taylor is currently collaborating in the studio working on new music with John Foyle (FKA Twigs, Sampha, The XX), Jakwob, (Celeste, Little Simz, Charlie XCX), Jamie Hartman (Rag n Bone Man, Celeste, Lewis Capaldi), Katie Melua, Joe Godard, Jimmy Hogath (Amy Winhouse, Sia) and Craigie Dodds (Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith). In 2020, Riva Taylor released her album This Woman’s Heart, which features the highlight track Jealous. The record earned her fans in Sir Elton John and Pete Tong, and was inspired by pop luminaries Annie Lennox and Kate Bush.
Riva is a big advocate for emerging talent in The Arts. She spent two years running a sold-out Writing Round series at London’s Roundhouse, a songwriter’s circle. This led to the launch of TWH in 2020 – a community that supports and connects women making a positive social impact in the arts. During lockdown, Riva continued these shows virtually, raising money for music venues who had to close their doors in the pandemic such as The Roundhouse and Bluebird Cafe. Riva also hosted some online seminars called ‘Creative Light’ with women across the arts discussing mental health, race, and how the arts can refocus us at times of change and challenge. Riva Taylor is an emerging pop music talent to be reckoned with, as she creates new music to unleash in 2021.
