River Nelson drops his brand new EP “Mental Notes” alongside a new visual for single “Seasons”

River Nelson- Seasons

Seasons is the third single from rapper River Nelson’s EP, Mental Notes.

Produced by Florida producer OVL Lorde, Seasons is about River’s belief that all things shall pass, regardless of how tough or challenging they may be. The song is also about being adaptable and resilient through life’s various seasons.

“We just trying to make it from season to season / Cause during the summer the violence increasing / In winter their bitter their hearts will be freezing / Their insides will shiver they’ll kill for no reason / The beauty that spring brings is always so fleeting / The autumn it caught him it brought him a beating,” raps River in the song.

He gave some insight on the single as well.

“Sometimes when going through a difficult time, it can be easy to forget that it won’t last forever, even though it may feel like that,” says River. “Sonically, I wanted the song to be catchy and lighthearted, despite the serious subject matter.”

River Nelson – Mental Notes

Mental Notes is the latest EP from American rapper River Nelson. As the title suggests, the songs are River’s latest thoughts on today’s world, the people in it, life, his art, and the things he’s experienced on his constant journey of trying to better himself.

Producers on the project include OVL Lorde from Florida, AltoBeats from California — who’s released two critically acclaimed albums with River — and Shaan Angel from the UK. The lead single for the project was the inspirational Flying, which is about River’s unwavering ambition to elevate himself both as an artist and an individual, despite facing challenges.

Other songs include the title track, which serves as the EP’s opener.

“These days will eat you alive that’s why we all feel edible / Yet I survived, which I think is commendable / In a time where scarcity is plentiful / And people ain’t loyal ‘cause their morals are bendable,” raps River on the song Mental Notes.

Meanwhile, Me & Dad on the Docks, which was the second single, is a touching story about River and his late father fishing together when River was a child, and how his father used fishing to teach certain life lessons.

The latest single is called Seasons, which is based on River’s belief that all things shall pass, regardless of how bad they are.

“Sometimes when going through a difficult time, it can be easy to forget that it’s just a season, and whatever you’re experiencing is most likely temporary,” says River about Seasons

His most recent album, We Should Escape, was released in 2023 with AltoBeats. Before that, the duo’s album, Like the Sun Didn’t Sink, was released in 2021.
