Roger Martinez - Roger Martinez – Downriver/Trans

Ever since Roger Martinez (in collaboration with Secret Cinema) released the glorious “Menthol Raga EP” (LF007) back in May 2013, there has been a fizz of excitement and whisperings about when he might return to Lost & Found. Guy J has been keeping the lid on this exceptional doubleheader from one of Holland’s finest electronic artists for some time now, but at last, it is time to unveil “Downriver” and “Trans” to the world.

Roger Martinez firmly believes that music can affect people on a deeper, universal, emotional level and thus can unite people, and the hypnotic genius of both “Downriver” and “Trans” show he is definitely a producer who is capable of taking music to a higher level.

“For me music is a way to reach people in a non-verbal and more direct way. Connecting to people using sonic vibrations to me is mystical and profound. Music must contain mystery, harmony and melody. These elements are the key to human emotions and feelings.” – Roger Martinez

The most skilled artists always have the ability to sense the anticipation and feelings of their audience. They go along and ride their musical palette like a surfer rides the waves of the ocean. It is precisely this skill that wins Roger Martinez so much respect from his peers. He strives to go beyond genres and formats. He approaches (dance) music from an emotional perspective (and emotions can be hard to label), an approach that has seen his quick rise to become a name to watch out for always.

“Downriver” is an absolutely huge statement of intent from an artist whose broad interest in sound means he is equally at home creating music to enthral and induce dancefloor delirium, as he is exploring vast ambient worlds of sonic emotions. The more percussive focused “Trans” is no less exceptional and utterly mesmerizing, making this is yet another standout, innovative musical package from Guy J’s Lost & Found. Enjoy!
