Roisto Returns to Youth Control With his Dazzling Two-track ‘Do Me Right’ EP

Talented Finnish DJ, producer and remixer, Roisto glides into the summer of 2023 with the emphatic two-track EP ‘Do Me Right’ on Youth Control. The release has already attracted the attention of several industry tastemakers, including Purple Disco Machine, Don Diablo, Galoski, David Penn and many more. Following impressive offerings on the likes of Enroute Records, Kitsuné Musique, It’s Great, Paharas Musica and several others, Roisto brings his unique sonic signature back to home shores on the Finnish imprint Youth Control on 23rd June, marking his tenth appearance on the label.

Hailing from northernmost Finland’s deep, dark forests, Roisto takes his name from the Finnish word for “villain.” He anchors himself in a small studio with old analogue synths, tape machines, and 12” disco records that inspire his uniquely stylish and creative Disco output. Roisto’s 2014 debut release on Youth Control, ‘Apart In Love’, introduced the world to his trademark sound. He was featured on The Wired, DJ Mag, Music TV, and many others whilst gathering over 2 million plays on Spotify

Following his head-turning debut, Roisto found himself hugely busy in the studio working on remixes for a plethora of artists such as Jason Derulo, Charlie Puth, Bob Sinclair, Vice, Overwerk and The Magician and labels like Kitsuné and Spinnin’. Subsequently, Roisto went on to release several well-received singles on Axwell’s It’s Great imprint, including “No Regrets” in 2017, “All Yours ft. PowerDress” (incl. a Full Intention Remix) in 2018, and “My Way” with Simon Ray in 2020, garnering attention from Pete Tong and Monki at BBC Radio 1 along with the rest of the house music scene.

On his latest EP, Roisto kicks things off with title track, ‘Do Me Right’ delving straight into disco-laced housey vibes with swinging rhythms, beefed-up bass, funky synth leads, nostalgic samples and catchy vocal runs from start to finish.

Next up, ‘Musical Melody’ brings another delightfully indulgent dose of groove-focused flavours from the outset, building around carefree beats, looping melodies, hearty bass notes, subtle string injections, quirky FX, playful fills and an abundance of climactic crescendos to carve out the second of two largely enslaving records.

With his ever-growing monthly mixtape/radio show “Loose Tapes” and tours in Finland, the UK, France and Poland adding steam to Roisto’s exponential rise in acclaim, he now steadies himself for several pivotal releases in 2023, including two EPs on Youth Control and a single collab with Ridney on Armada.
