Rose Ringed’s euphoric, emotional debut album ‘Mylène’ – Out Now on Closed Eyes Recordings

Amsterdam DJ/producer/live artist/drummer/jazz pianist and now vocalist Rose Ringed’s long-awaited, deeply personal 17-track debut album ‘Mylène’ is out now in full on his Closed Eyes Recordings imprint. Alongside focus tracks ‘So Much Love To Give’ and ‘Gotta Let You Go’, there are 5 LP exclusives. His signature style is euphoric, melodic, heartening, and all the more moving in view of his emotional honesty.

His full debut LP ‘Mylène’: deals with the death of his beloved mother, a jazz ballerina, when he was only 11, but though personal, it’s universal as a guide through grief, an example of hope, of pain transformed through creativity into art and even joy. Rose Ringed emerges as not only a talented musician/composer but a heart-stirring singer. ‘‘Mylène’ has the timeline of me as a young boy losing her, then a man still mourning as if I was 11, now after healing myself becoming an adult who sees her loss in a new way. All tracks are made by me, mixed by me and all the lyrics are written and sung by me after five years of singing lessons. The album is my life’s greatest work so far.’ Rose Ringed.

‘So Much Love To Give’: a soft, layered vocal for the emotional lyrics, lifted on slow synth chords, pulsing melody, and a steady swift beat, building throughout. ‘In therapy, I realised everything I’d fought for, had done, was motivated by a deep love for my mother. I had to let go of my young self, still fighting.  A breakthrough moment, the final part of my healing.’

‘Gotta Let You Go’: Rose’s newly trained voice is suddenly pitch-shifted, sounding almost like a child’s, the moving lyrics now riding the buzzing bassline, lively beat, and rippling synth piano arps, now soaring in the long breakdown alone but for melodic piano accompaniment. Upbeat, fast, yet heart-stirring. ‘With most of the LP ranging from 120-128 bpm, this 135 one stands out in energy and holds the letting go of all I went through. The lyrics tell the story: “And I never really saw that I was fighting, Something I couldn’t beat, something I couldn’t know.  So now I see the truth was in your writing, I gotta let you go.’ I wrote this slower but increasing the bpm pitched the vocal up so nicely, I absolutely loved the sound. A happy accident! This track makes me feel nostalgic, happy and emotional at the same time, it really feels like a final chapter of my personal journey.’

Every track a gem, beautifully crafted, emotionally raw, ultimately celebratory.
